When doing Customs Clearance in Vietnam, please keep the following in mind:

1. It is mandatory to declare seal details on your Bill of Lading for all import shipments into Vietnam.

2. Cargo descriptions must be declared with the specific commodity name. Vague declarations such as “foodstuff”, “general cargo”, and freight of all kinds are not acceptable labels.

3. Tax reference is mandatory for customer code creation in Vietnam. As per the Tax Policy in Vietnam (Circular 153/2010/TT-BTC), Tax reference (Tax code or Tax Identification no) is mandatory in the legal invoice which is issued in Vietnam. Any non-compliance or missing tax code will result in invoice cancellation or amendment thereafter.
