Following a confirmed case of Covid-19 on Wednesday, 11 August, Ningbo Port has shut down the Meidong terminal, one of its key terminals. The terminal is part of Ningbo’s Meishan bonded area. This puts further pressure on global supply chains as Ningbo is the world's third busiest container port.
However, the rest of the Ningbo shipping port remains operational for now. This event is one of many due to COVID-19 cases, such as the partial shutdown of Yantian port in late May.
Given the latest developments, Shanghai port has tightened disinfection and quarantine measures and asked front line workers to stay. But no operational disruption has been reported so far.
Those developments come as the current shipping situation – especially out of China – is highly busy – with peak seasons such as Chinese Golden Week and Christmas approaching soon.
What the closure of the Meishan Terminal means for your cargo

Ocean Freight: As announced by our partner Maersk, some vessels will be rerouted to other terminals in Ningbo to avoid further delays.
Inland Transportation: Trucking related to return from or to Meishan port is suspended from 11 August until further notice.
